Lecturer in Chemistry

Glasgow Caledonian University - School of Engineering and Built Environment - Instrumentation, Control and Analytical Sciences

This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity for 2 years.

The School of Engineering and Built Environment wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Chemistry to join the Instrumentation, Control and Analytical Sciences subject group.

Our successful undergraduate programme in Forensic Investigation has as its main focus analytical chemistry with particular emphasis on theoretical and practical applications to the forensic and environmental areas. This ensures that our graduates are well equipped for employment in many analytical science industries.

We seek a chemist with experience in the analytical area to join our subject group. Your research interests should align with the University research theme of Sustainable Environments and in particular complement one of the research areas of existing academic staff in the group in diagnostic systems and sensors research, analytical chemistry, or spectroscopy.

The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant team contributing to all levels of teaching and research within the subject area. Our laboratories are extremely well equipped to ensure that teaching and research in chemical sciences is well supported.

You will have post graduate experience working in a chemical sciences area, experience of teaching, academic delivery, and a strong commitment to the enhancement of teaching, student experience, and progression. A current and appropriate record of research and/or knowledge exchange that compliments the existing themes of the University is essential.

Further details on this post are available by contacting Professor Sheila Smith, Assistant Head of Department (e: a.s.smith@gcu.ac.uk or t: 0141 331 3552).

As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality and diversity, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values of Integrity, Creativity, Responsibility, and Confidence.

Applicants must have the continued right to live and work in the United Kingdom to apply for this vacancy.
