Teaching Fellow (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering)

The School of Engineering and Computing at UWS is well established and an internationally recognised multidisciplinary academic centre. The School is seeking to strengthen its teaching expertise through a part-time appointment of a Teaching Fellow in the area of Mechanical and Manufacture Engineering.

The successful candidate should have a first degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and preferably be qualified to postgraduate PhD level in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacture, Automation & Control, or associated discipline, and/or relevant higher education or industrial background or experience. The Teaching Fellow will support the face-to-face teaching of the existing subjects in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing areas as well as to support, develop, and deliver the online teaching methods particularly for the Graduate Level Apprenticeships in Engineering. The candidate should have skills in one or more areas of the automation and manufacturing, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written, that will benefit the development of online, blended, and face-to-face teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful candidate will also undertake appropriate administration and other activities to support the University. There may also be an opportunity to support the research and knowledge exchange activities in the School as part of the role.

This position will be based at our Paisley Campus with some scheduled activities at our other campus locations such as Hamilton and the new Lanarkshire Campus to be opened in 2018. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to our international activity as required.
