The School of Engineering and Computing at UWS is well established and an internationally recognised multidisciplinary academic centre. The School is seeking to strengthen its teaching and research expertise through the full-time appointment of a Lecturer in the area of Mechanical Engineering.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of all level of programmes in the Mechanical Engineering/Aircraft Engineering areas, as well the Graduate Level Apprenticeship Programmes in Engineering. Contribution to the research activities within the group will also be essential with a focus on REF outcomes.

The candidates should have a first degree in Mechanical Engineering and normally be qualified to postgraduate PhD level in an engineering related discipline. It would also be preferable to have membership of an appropriate professional body. Relevant research and/or industrial experience in one or more of the fields of Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Aerodynamics are an essential requirement for the post. The successful candidate will take the lead in developing new teaching materials in the subject areas of Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Engineering, or the Graduate Level Apprenticeship Programmes in Engineering. The successful candidate is also expected to establish appropriate research and commercial activities in the aforementioned areas.

This position will be based at our Paisley Campus with some scheduled activities at our other campus locations such as Hamilton and the new Lanarkshire Campus to be opened in 2018. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to our international activity as required.

The School’s research is organised into a close community of industry-focused inter-disciplinary research groups and the successful applicant should proactively collaborate with colleagues across all disciplines to enhance the impact of their research.
