Residence Life Officer (Engagement & Development)

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Residence Life team at the University of Sheffield, which has been Top 3 in Student Experience for seven years running. Residence Life provides welfare support, activities, leadership opportunities, sports, and also oversee conduct within University Accommodation.

The Residence Life Officer (Engagement & Development) oversees the living and learning aspect of the Residence Life Programme. The programme is crucial for ensuring a smooth transition from home to University life as well as enhancing the residential experience. Responsibilities of the post include providing a wide variety of engagement opportunities for our students in residence, in connection with the wider academic context of the University. This dynamic programme is delivered in partnership with the Students’ Union and Sport Sheffield and helps create a sense of belonging amongst the students. Other duties include line management of a number of staff and assisting the Residence Life Manager, along with two other officers, in daily operations and development of the Residence Life programme.

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with experience in working with university students, as well as event management. As this role involves contributing to the overall Residence Life strategy, you will also need experience/knowledge of issues pertaining to student development, student-related issues in UK Higher Education, and planning and aligning the work of the team to the strategic vision.

You should also have line management experience, which will allow you to motivate and guide your team.
