Team Leader - Enterprise

Salary: £38,833 - £41,212 pa with potential to progress to £44,992 pa and then £49,149 pa on achieving designated skills and experience  

FTE: This is a full time position working 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

We are looking for a Team Leader to join the management team of the Careers and Employment Service. You will manage the Enterprise Team, to lead the promotion and development of an entrepreneurial culture to primarily develop the UH graduate attributes of professionalism, employability and enterprise through business start-up activities.

The successful candidate will assist in managing a dedicated customer facing service spread over three UH sites with over 40 staff, working with other Team Leaders to deliver highly effective operational support to the strategic objectives of the Service.

You should have substantial experience of delivering business start-up programmes, or similar, and be able to confidently deliver workshops to large groups. You should have a proven track record of supporting successful businesses, ideally from start-up phase and should be an experienced networker.

You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best enterprise opportunities are available to UH students, graduates and users of UH Incubation.

You will be a strong leader and presenter who will inspire and challenge students and other key stakeholders through the development and delivery of enterprise and business development schemes.

 You will lead the development and delivery of enterprise start-up, support and growth programmes.

You will be a key member of the operational management team for Careers and Employment and will be needed to deputise for the Assistant Heads in their absence.

The role requires strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and manage teams.  

Experience / Education / Qualifications

Graduate or equivalent

Previous proven relevant experience of managing a team of staff within an enterprise, business start-up or careers service in an HE environment or equivalent

Experience in entrepreneurship, for example starting or running a business, being self-employed or equivalent

Substantive experience of offering enterprise/business support advice or working in employer relations

Experience of working collaboratively and inclusively with enterprise stakeholders

Substantive experience of delivering/teaching business start-up support workshops and one to one advice or similar
