Arena Principal Teaching Fellow

This Principal Teaching Fellow post is key to the success of key areas of Arena Centre work and youwill join an established and productive team and your work will be overseen by Professor Dilly Fung.

You will work with the UCL Arena Team and the Office of Vice-Provost (Education and StudentAffairs) to devise strategies to raise the quality of assessment and feedback practices across theinstitution, for example, through organising events, initiating projects and designing resources.Collaborate with Student Union UCL Liberation Networks, UCL Equalities and Diversity to enable staffand students across UCL to develop inclusive curricula.Work with the Academic Director to createstrategic plans for activities undertaken by the Arena Centre, ensuring that its work focuses on UCL’sinstitutional priorities in relation to learning and teaching, and to implement detailed evaluationstrategies. Draw on personal expertise to help shape the Centre’s strategic approach to the provisionof advice and guidance to UCL’s Faculties, ensuring that practical solutions are promoted in responseto evaluative data (National Student Survey; Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey andInstitutional Quality Review). Lead and commission projects within a designated Faculty as required,in line with strategic priorities. Take an active role at institutional level in supporting strategicdevelopment on teaching, learning and assessment issues. Actively contribute to cross-institutionalinitiatives including Connected Curriculum and UCL ChangeMakers, furthering the work of the ArenaCentre.

Publish on practical, conceptual and theoretical aspects of curriculum development and/or theenhancement of student learning as they relate to practice at UCL, using this and other material tounderpin the advice, guidance and practical support that the post holder provides to a designatedFaculty and across UCL more broadly. Take a national leadership role and/or be recognised as anauthority on teaching, learning, curriculum and student experience issues. Seek internal and externalfunding to enhance developmental provision in relation to enhancing student education and thewider student experience at UCL.

Fixed one-year post or one-year secondment until 31st December 2018.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of current issues and challenges in assessmentin higher education, and experience of implementing effective solutions. We are seeking a colleague with experience of teaching on accredited developmental programmesin higher education, who has taught in higher education (in any discipline).
