The University of Manchester, invites applications from candidates with a proven track research record in testing nanomaterial-based gels for repair/regeneration of cartilaginous tissues for a position of Research Associate.  The full-time post is available immediately and tenable up to 30/06/18.

You will aid in the development of a novel, polymer-based nanoparticle adhesive gel for application in repair/regeneration of cartilaginous tissues, particularly meniscal cartilage. Working closely with collaborators at the University of Warwick, the project will involve testing the biocompatibility, adhesive strength and persistence of gel formulations using cartilage explant models, as well as the characterization of new tissue formation.

You will have an undergraduate degree in biological sciences, biomaterials or related discipline and a PhD in the area of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. You will have demonstrable previous research experience in mammalian cell culture, experience of testing nanomaterial/polymer-based hydrogels, a sound background in cell viability/material biocompatability assessment, characterisation of matrix formation and biomechanical assessment of materials/tissues. A developing publication record in peer reviewed journals and evidence of ability to work on multidisciplinary projects would be advantageous.
