Post Status: 18-month fixed term contract (full time)

Location: Main College Campus, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, College Green, Dublin 2, Ireland

Reports to: The RPO will report in the first instance to the Chair of TIDI and the School Manager, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy (SSSP), and in the second instance to the Manager of the College Research Development office

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Administrative 2 salary scale (€47,204 to €55,466 per annum), at a point in line with Government Pay Policy

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

Closing Date: 12 Noon (Irish Standard Mean Time), Friday 27th October 2017

Post Summary

The Trinity International Development Initiative (TIDI) and the College Research Development Office (RDO) seek to appoint a Research Programme Officer (RPO). The successful candidate will work with the Chair of TIDI to develop and manage an implementation plan for TIDI’s research funding strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in realizing TIDI’s research development aims in particular as they relate to TIDI’s ERC and H2020 strategies. The RPO will identify and promote funding opportunities with researchers within TIDI. They will be active in opportunity identification, consortium building and networking activities, and will be a resource to assist staff in writing and submitting research proposals. Particular emphasis will be placed on securing non-exchequer funding, especially Horizon 2020 funding.

The RPO will be provided with opportunities to work with other members of the RDO team in order to become familiar with the range of duties, projects and procedures related to securing different types of research funding. The RPO will also liaise with other College service providers (e.g., Contracts Office, Technology Transfer, Treasurer’s Office etc.) to ensure that researchers are aware of the relevant offices to be contacted and procedures to be followed in relation to interactions with research sponsors such as the European Commission.

The RPO will be based in TIDI, which is currently managed by the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy (the home School of the Chair of TIDI).
