Grade: UH 7 Lecturer / UH8 Senior Lecturer                        

FTE: Full Time, working 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

Main duties & responsibilities

This vacancy has arisen in the Strategic Management Group which is located within the Department of Management, Leadership and Organisation (MLO). The Group is involved in teaching, research and commercial activities in Strategic Management and related areas. We are looking for applicants with relevant qualifications and experience to join this thriving group. Applications are particularly welcomed from those with teaching, research and/or professional experience in Strategic Management, International Strategic Management, International Business, International Relations, Cross-cultural Management.

Skills and experience needed

Essential at Lecturer Level

  • Applicants are expected to have expert knowledge and applied research interests in the International Management subject domain. In particular, the group is looking for those who can contribute in one or more of the following areas: International strategic management, Global environment of business, Cross-cultural management, Ethics and Sustainability.
  • Show willingness to be involved in module/programme management or other related duties.
  • Have a Doctoral qualification (awarded or close to completion) in a relevant subject area.
  • Have membership of the Higher Education Academy or other teaching qualifications.
  • Be a member of, or demonstrate willingness to become a member of relevant professional bodies and academic groupings.
  • Have experience of student project and dissertation supervision and be willing to engage in doctoral level supervision where appropriate.
  • Have experience of and enthusiasm for teaching at undergraduate level and have the ability to maintain and develop knowledge and skills as required for the position.
  • Evidence of good personal, intellectual and communication skills, including clear and accurate written and spoken English
  • Demonstrable commitment to enhancing student experience
  • Willingness to be involved in the business development activities of the School
  • A positive attitude towards students from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in English Language


  • Have experience of teaching across a range of levels including executive and/or postgraduate as well as undergraduate level.
  • Have experience of module/programme management or other related duties.
  • Have a track record of research and/or professional publication and/or experience of doctoral supervision.
  • Be willing to travel overseas to support the development of the School’s international operations.
  • Have relevant experience and enthusiasm to develop an external interface with business organisations.

Qualifications required

  • Have a Doctoral (completed or working towards completion) (Essential)
  • Have teaching qualification (Desirable)
