The University has a long-standing commitment to develop higher education at the UCLan Burnley Campus to support the economic regeneration of East Lancashire. It has set out to develop a course portfolio that is relevant to the sub-region. This builds on existing courses in medical, healthcare and social work, nursing, community leadership, and degree apprenticeships. New courses will be launched over the coming years to focus on priority sectors such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, creative and digital media sector, business and professional services, the visitor economy and the development of leadership and management skills both for local businesses and the public sector.

To support the expected growth, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer on an indefinite and part-time basis to join the award-winning UCLan ‘WISER’ team. The person will deliver academic support to UCLan students enrolled on a wide variety of degree programmes at the UCLan Burnley Campus. The role is varied and involves working 1-to-1 with students, delivering interactive workshops on aspects of study skills, designing and delivering team-teaching with subject tutors as well as contributing to materials development and maintaining WISER’s Virtual Learning Environment.

With experience of teaching in HE, the successful applicant will have a good honours degree, a higher degree and a professional teaching qualification or membership of a relevant professional body. Utilising excellent presentation and communication skills, the successful applicant will have the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders and develop learning resources. The ability to engage with learners with a diverse range of abilities and a commitment to the missions and vision of the University is essential.

The successful candidate is expected to commence employment as soon as available as and no later than January 2017.
