We are seeking to recruit a Business Development Manager who will be play a key role in developing, promoting and delivering an industry engagement programme through the new Bayes Centre for Data Technology.

The new Bayes Centre, set to open in 2018, will co-locate data-driven research and innovation groups within the University alongside external industry partners.

This is an exciting new post that will play a pivotal role in developing strategic partnerships and generating significant value for the University and wider City of Edinburgh region. The role will involve promoting and developing Edinburgh’s strength in Data Science, Interaction, Robotics and Systems and will focus on establishing new strategic relationships and closing opportunities. This role will involve significant interaction with university groups such as Informatics, Design Informatics, Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre, The Data Lab and Edinburgh Innovations.

This post is responsible for developing relationships with key industry and public-sector partners and supporting new start-up and spin-out companies by providing direction on business development and connecting them with industry partners, investors and key stakeholders. The post-holder will perform against assigned quarterly targets while prioritising and delivering an outstanding experience to industry partners engaging through the Bayes Centre.

This is a business development role where a relevant first degree and experience in at least one of the following areas is required: Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Internet of Things or Design.

The role requires strong selling skills and the ability to take a business view on technology, understanding contracts, developing value propositions and the ability to close deals.

This role is full-time, fixed term and available from 15 November 2017 until 31 December 2020.
