Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Offshore Wind Structural Analysis

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant, funded by EPSRC, to join the Civil Engineering research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is fixed-term for 24 months, starting from 3 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful applicant will work on the geotechnical and structural design of offshore wind turbine support systems, with a focus on monopile foundations. The work will involve combining aeroelastic codes with new foundation design models to explore wind turbine behaviour. Initial analysis will focus on monitored data from European offshore wind farms. Further work will explore how environmental loading and soil properties impact on structural design and selection, with a focus on application offshore China.

You should hold (or be near to completion of) a relevant PhD/DPhil, along with appropriate experience. You should have experience of working in structural analysis, ideally within the offshore wind industry. Candidates with compatible backgrounds in Geotechnics, Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply.
