Purpose and Main Duties
The Research Grants and Contracts Office is part of the Finance Department and provides administrative, financial and support services related to externally funded research grants and contracts and consultancy activities.

We are seeking to appoint to the newly created post of Research Contracts Manager. Working to the Head of Research Grants and Contracts, the post holder will take the lead in reviewing, drafting and negotiating research and consultancy agreements with external bodies, and in doing so ensure that the College’s best interests are protected and risks minimised.

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of contract law and understanding of contract drafting in the UK Higher Education (HE) Sector; the ability to work constructively with academics from any area of research, together with excellent skills in communication, numeracy, and able to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively at all levels.

Please note: candidates need to demonstrate competence or significant potential in all areas.

In addition it is desirable that candidates have an understanding of issues currently facing the UK Higher Education (HE) sector; experience of bid preparation, business development or commercial activity, and the ability to work across academic disciplines.

Salary: Grade 8 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £43,642 rising to £51,372 per annum.

This post is full time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and open-ended. The salary quoted above is on the College's London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
