The University of Sheffield AMRC builds on the success of the original Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, creating a cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities.

The Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG) has grown organically over the last 10 years delivering transformational research into world class companies both large and small and are seeking six candidates for this vacancy.

You will assist the Integrated Manufacturing Group, working as part of an agile team to deliver research projects of varying durations. Digital Manufacturing is one of three key themes within Factory 2050 and the role will look at ‘the 4th Industrial revolution’ and the development and implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), Digitally Assisted Assembly (DAA) and Big Data technologies within manufacturing. You will be a software engineer, competent in a number of programming languages. We are looking for a diverse skill-set, including good organisational skills, and the ability to research, problem solve, design, and implement ideas in a hands-on environment. You will have a practical approach, a positive attitude, and be a confident communicator.

You will report to the relevant project manager and technical lead for the duration of each project.

You must have a good degree in a relevant subject (or relevant experience in a research or industrial environment).

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
