Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31st December 2018 in the first instance.

The post would be suitable as a secondment.

Applications are invited for the position of Accounts Assistant at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. This is a new part-time post which has been created to facilitate the Faculty's transition to a new governance structure. The successful candidate will be required to work between 19-22 hours per week (c.60% FTE) to be arranged with the Faculty Administrator on appointment. 

The role holder will assist the Faculty Accounts Clerk in the day to day running of all aspects of the accounting and financial procedures for the Faculty, and will maintain routine procedures in her absence. Duties will include preparing and raising invoices for incoming payments, raising purchase orders, undertaking and advising on procurement and tender procedures, reporting on research grants, monitoring expenditure on budgets, and assisting with month end reporting.

The successful candidate will be highly numerate, analytical and proficient in standard software packages, particularly Excel. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, including the ability to explain financial procedures effectively to non finance staff, displaying tact and diplomacy at all times. 

Experience working in a busy accounts environment and of using computerised accounting systems is essential, ideally with Oracle financials and/or the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS).
