This new, full time position is available immediately on a permanent basis.

This role is based in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies. We have around 190 members of academic staff with 1700 undergraduates and 1400 postgraduates. We carry out teaching and research in a number of disciplines including Law, Politics, Education and Arabic and Islamic Studies amongst others. We believe our size and quality enable us to develop world leading research and offer teaching that is dynamic, flexible and taught with commitment and skill. This philosophy is supported by our teams of professionals who work alongside our academics ensuring day to day activities and key projects are delivered.

As a member of the College Executive Support Team, the role of Executive Assistant is to provide high level administrative support to the members of the College Executive Team at discipline or College level as well as helping to support the wider work of the College Executive Support Team.  You will build a close rapport with academics and colleagues and will be based within a motivated and dedicated team of SSIS Executive Assistants.  

The successful candidate for this challenging role will be:

  • A proactive problem solvers with excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Have previous relevant experience in an admin role, using databases and systems
  • Have relevant experience of diary management , supporting committees and taking minutes
  • Have attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard in both written and oral communication
  • Be able to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality
  • Experience of committee servicing or taking minutes
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills, develop relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of people at all levels both internally and externally
