Our state of the art computing facilities are based on the latest Windows Server technologies and RedHat Linux systems. These servers offer a fully resilient infrastructure, distributed between two geographically separate data centres and a number of campus based sub-centres. Storage is provided by a pair of replicated SANs. The infrastructure and end user equipment is centrally managed using a combination of bespoke and standard Microsoft tools. This sophisticated infrastructure provides services to support both the administration of the University and its Teaching and Learning activities.

Working in the Client Management Team, supporting the most visible part of the technology landscape, you will join a key team within the Infrastructure group, with responsibility for client development, management and support for an estate of almost 6000 endpoint systems.

Preferably educated to degree level, you will be experienced in all aspects of client systems development, delivery, security and support. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent customer facing skills. 

IT Services manages all University Desktop and Laptop PCs for both staff and students of the University. Student PCs are currently Windows 10 while the Staff PCs are predominantly still Windows 7 but the process of upgrading these to Windows 10 is now underway.

This is an exciting time for the provision and support of client computers with many new tools and methodologies becoming available to support LAN based and particularly internet-connected devices. The expansion of this team is to provide additional capacity to support the growing and diversifying PC estate and allow for provision of other managed services such as Apple and mobile devices, so any experience in these areas would be a major advantage.
