Head of Business Partnerships and Enterprise for Physical Sciences

The Faculty of Science and Technology at Lancaster is not only committed to teaching and research excellence, demonstrated by our institution being ranked 1st in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, but is also dedicated to maintaining world class knowledge exchange and business engagement activities. Our excellence in this space is underpinned by our campus based co-location facilities in InfoLab21, The Lancaster Environment Centre and the recently completed Collaborative Technology Access Programme Building (cTAP) a £11.3-million facility containing almost £7-million of cutting edge instrumentation. The cTAP facility was part funded by European Regional Development Fund and therefore targets industry engagement in the form of new collaborative and contract research initiatives. Additional facilities associated with Physical Sciences include:

  • 3D printing suite
  • The new IsoLab research facilities for quantum technologies and ultra-low temperatures
  • The Quantum Technology Centre, housing nanotechnology equipment and state of the art clean room fabrication facilities

Physical Sciences at Lancaster now seek an experienced individual to lead a team of knowledge exchange professionals, that provide support for the following departments and research institutes: Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics, Energy Lancaster and the Material Science Institute. This broad ranging role will lead partnerships and collaborative interactions with SME’s and larger companies regionally, nationally and internationally. The scope for the partnerships will include collaborative research, contract research, the development of professional training programmes, supporting the commercialisation of intellectual property, access to facilities and the co-location of businesses.

You will be educated to higher degree level or equivalent within a relevant discipline and have experience in a similar role, preferably within a university setting, while having direct experience of working in a relevant private sector organisation.
