Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) seeks applications for a full-time position at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor for the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL). Applications are invited for full-time, permanent (tenure track) or fixed-term contracts (1-3 years).

The School
LUMS has been offering a 5-year BA-LL.B (Hons) degree programme since 2003, initially as part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and since 2013 as a fully fledged School of Law. In 2015, SAHSOL moved into its own dedicated building, benefitting from state-of-the-art student and faculty services and facilities. The BA-LL.B programme commences with two years of BA studies, which exposes law students to a wide variety of subjects offered by other Schools of LUMS, followed by a three-year LL.B programme. The LL.B phase consists of a number of core law subjects as prescribed by the Pakistan Bar Council, as well as a wide range of topical elective courses on specialist areas of law as well as practical skills courses. 

SAHSOL seeks to build up its expertise in the areas of Chinese law and alternative dispute resolution/international commercial arbitration. In addition, SAHSOL aims to introduce an LL.M programme within the next two years. 

The successful applicants will be part of a research-active, dynamic and innovative law school which is constantly striving for the highest standard in research and teaching. 

Selection Criteria
Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must hold a law degree and a PhD (or be near completion i.e. within 6-months), demonstrate their potential to produce international research, have a commitment to excellence in teaching (in English), good interpersonal skills and networking ability. Applicants for higher levels must, in addition, have a proven track record of publications and a demonstrated capacity to pursue research funding and lead academic programmes. 

The successful applicant will have research and teaching interests that are relevant or relate to South Asian law and legal systems, including Pakistan.
