Available Studentships:

Studentships are available as +3 (PhD) or 4- year (Masters and PhD) awards, and on a full- or part-time basis.

Fully-funded SeNSS Studentships include:

  • Tuition fees (UK/EU rates)
  • Maintenance stipend at RCUK rates (currently £14,553 p.a., tax free)
  • London weighting: £2,000 p.a. (London-based SeNSS universities only)
  • Research training support grants
  • Access to further research funding

Academic eligibility

  • For Masters and PhD funding: qualifications or experience equal to a first or upper second class honours degree, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience are required
  • For PhD funding: qualifications or experience equal to a Masters degree with distinction or merit, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience are required

Residential eligibility

Full SeNSS Studentships are available only to Home or EU students who meet the RCUK eligibility criteria. EU students who have not been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to 30 September 2018 may be eligible for a fees-only award. The ONLY exception is that international students may apply to the Economics Pathway and, if successful, will receive a full award.

Full award (fees + stipend) eligibility - you must:

  • Have settled in the UK with no restrictions on length of stay
  • Have been a UK ‘ordinary resident’ for three years prior to 30 September 2018
  • Not have been residing in the UK wholly or mainly for the purpose of full-time education (this doesn’t apply to UK/ EU nationals)

Fees-only eligibility – you must:

  • Be ‘ordinarily resident’ in an EU member state
