In 2017 the Centre for Arts Doctoral Research Excellence at the University of Warwick awarded 15 fully-funded PhD studentships for Home/EU students. CADRE is now seeking applications from UK and EU students for the 2018 awards, which also include four prestigious and highly valued Wolfson Foundation awards.  In addition, overseas (non-EU) applicants will be considered for one of the six University’s Chancellor’s International Scholarships which are allocated to the Arts.

The 3.5 year CADRE doctoral studentship provides:

  • A tax free stipend of approximately £14,553 per year (2017/2018 rate)
  • Tuition fees, worth approximately £4,195 per year (2017/2018 rate)
  • World leading interdisciplinary supervision
  • Access to a dynamic community of research active peers.

These studentships offer an opportunity for excellent graduates from across the globe to become part of a vibrant doctoral Arts and Humanities research community. CADRE scholars are offered the chance to develop an innovative approach to interdisciplinary research and tackle societal challenges from a humanities perspective. Studying through CADRE equips scholars with the knowledge, skills and understanding to pursue the profession of their choice, whether in academia or in the public or private sectors, to be informed and active citizens, and to seek to apply their expertise to the major issues facing society today.

The Faculty of Arts at Warwick provides an outstanding academic environment in which to develop your research. The Faculty invites applications from any areas covered by our departments including Philosophy. Candidates should in the first instance apply through the University’s Graduate School system to the department of their choice, giving full details of their research proposal and which member(s) of staff they want to have as supervisor(s).  It is important to contact the staff concerned to secure their agreement well in advance of the

deadline for applications: 19 January 2018.
