Fixed term for 3 years

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £26,495 to £28,936. With potential progression once in post to £32,548 a year.

The University of Birmingham in collaboration with the FA, are seeking an accomplished individual to lead and drive the development of coaches in the Birmingham and West Midlands, working at both grassroots and the elite level of the women’s and girls’ game. Representing the University to drive collaboration with local football providers and the Birmingham County FA, the successful candidate would support the successful development of a creative & effective coach development programme to provide female players with consistent and fit for purpose coaching.

The post holder will require the following skill set:


  • UEFA B Coaching Licence


  • Understanding of FA LTPD-4 corner model
  • Complete understanding of FA DNA, coaching and learning philosophies
  • Understanding of the FA Women’s Football Strategy & National Game Strategy
  • Knowledge of student sport


  • Work as a team member-but ability to work independently
  • Work Strategically to develop delivering partners
  • Modern, progressive approach to coaching and learning
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop, prioritise, evaluate work programme to best meet the University of Birmingham’s and FA group objectives

  • Ability and track record of working as part of a busy team and working effectively under pressure to tight deadlines


  • Proven track record in coaching the sport and gaining results
  • Sports/Football Development
  • Sensitive to development needs of adult learners
  • Experience of Grassroots Football
  • Experience in Player Development
  • Experience in Coach Education and Coach Development
  • Team/Player Coaching experience
  • Experience of developing young Player/Coach –related programme
  • Experience of successfully leading others, preferably in both direct supervision of other paid employees and of volunteers
