Postdoctoral Fellow - Faculty of Law

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow engaged in research on the application of data analytics or machine learning to law and regulation (including in areas now referred to as FinTech or RegTech). The successful candidiate would work with the Centre for Financial Regulation and Economic Development (CFRED) project developing applications of computer science for writing ‘smart contract’ models, data analytics facilitating surveillance against market abuse or for innovative corporate finance techniques, and use of distributed ledger technology to register the settlement of securities trades. The appointee would be expected to carry out independent research as well as collaborate with CUHK Law Faculty members engaged in this CFRED project. 

Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree with solid qualifications in the area of computer science (CS); (ii) a strong interest in applying these skills to law; and (iii) a sincere desire to work in a team, particularly supporting legal experts with little CS training. Fluent English is a prerequisite, and knowledge of Chinese a plus. 

Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable for up to one year, subject to mutual agreement.
