Schools Programme Manager (National Collaborative Outreach Programme)

Sheffield Hallam University - Admissions and UK Student Recruitment

Fixed Term until 31/12/18

The Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire (HeppSY+) is working in partnership with local schools, colleges and partners to double the proportion of young people progressing to higher education. HeppSY+ is funded through the National Collaborative Outreach Programme.

HeppSY+ is part of HEPP (Higher Education Progression Partnership) which is a longstanding collaborative widening participation initiative aimed at improving progression to university from socially disadvantaged areas in the Sheffield City Region.

HeppSY+ has quickly established an excellent reputation for delivering high quality outreach and widening participation support with target schools and colleges in South Yorkshire.

A second schools programme manager is now being sought. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dedicated team working on an initiative that is making a real difference, enabling significantly more young people in the region to progress into higher education, and improving the lives of young people from underprivileged backgrounds.

You will liaise closely with target schools to initiate and co-ordinate the delivery of the programme, and manage the work of school based HeppSY+ NCOP liaison staff. You will also work with other university staff, particularly outreach teams and those responsible for tracking and monitoring schools activity, and with a range of external providers delivering activities. The ability to manage stakeholder relationships is fundamental.

You will have a range of skills / experience including;

  • Knowledge of the higher education, further education and schools sectors.
  • Recent experience of widening participation policy and practice.
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships.
  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for key decisions.
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Data analysis skills.

You will also be able and willing to work occasional evenings and are able to travel across the region as required.

For non-EU applicants, we won't be able to provide a certificate of sponsorship / visa for this job.
