Who we are

BPP University is the UK’s only university solely dedicated to business and the professions.  We are dedicated to preparing students for a professional career and our programmes are designed in partnership with employers and respected professionals in the fields of law, business, finance and health.

BPP University Business School provides a range of carefully selected programmes with a professional focus to get our students on track for their business career. Our links with leading businesses help us to design and deliver highly relevant programmes, tailored to meet the needs of today’s business climate.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a Lecturer to accommodate the demand needs within the School across our Banking and Financial Services programmes.  You should be highly-motivated with significant practitioner experience.

The role of the Lecturer is to ensure that students in the Business School receive a premium experience. This is achieved via delivery of the highest quality tuition, materials and student support.

Duties will include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Provide high quality module leadership and be accountable for the standard of the module materials and resources.  Ensure high quality and consistent teaching through the provision of detailed teaching guidance and academic support.
  • Undertake curriculum development as and when required.
  • Examining, assessment and marking within the relevant programmes.
  • Supervising student projects within the relevant programmes.
  • Undertake scholarship activities and contribute to the research base within the School. Raise the profile of the School through attendance at conferences and externally published scholarship and research.
  • Providing ongoing personal tuition support to a cohort of Business School students.
  • Managing a local cohort of students to ensure the smooth running and academic integrity of the relevant programme.
  • Providing academic support for commercial and business development activities within the School. Ad hoc provision of client liaison and support as required.
  • Teaching on the relevant programmes in both face to face and online modes.
  • Supporting the Faculty and Corporate vision of a “university with a national and international reputation for excellence, innovation and regional engagement”.

Role Requirements

With significant practitioner experience in your field, you will hold a first degree and/or professional qualification as appropriate.  If you do not already hold a teaching qualification relevant to the discipline, or Fellowship of the HEA, you should be committed to achieving these through BPP’s PGCPHE or Headway (BPP’s accredited CPD scheme).

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will also be an effective presenter competent in the use of IT packages.  You will be able to effectively plan, organise and prioritise your workload and be equally happy working as part of a collaborative team as you are working alone.

Experience of teaching at graduate or professional level or of delivering training and seminars would be desirable, though not essential, as would experience of writing engaging learning materials and providing guidance and leadership to a teaching team.
