Research Associate

University College London - Bartlett School of Architecture

The Bartlett School of Architecture is seeking to appoint a Research Associate holding a PhD in Architecture, Design, sociology, Engineering or an appropriate relevant discipline. The appointed researcher will be required to work closely with the project Principal Investigator on the AHRC funded project ePaths of resistant pathogens in hospitals.

The project will examine the paths that pathogens take through hospitals via the movement of healthcare workers as well as large mobile items. The research aims to observe wards in two different hospitals in order to: understand which user group contributes most to the potential spread of pathogens through their behaviour, mathematically model exposure and transmission risks, discuss results and potential solutions in co-creation workshops with users and design possible interventions. Leveraging the role of design to subtly nudge people to modify their behaviours, the project acts as a starting point of a wider conversation between design research and medical science.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and will have experience of working in a research environment. We are looking for candidates who possess the ability to manage projects, organise fieldwork and who can analyse and present complex data and information to diverse audiences. In addition, we are looking for evidence of strong communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders across a range of disciplinary backgrounds.

Applicants should apply online. To access further details about the position and how to apply please click on the ‘Apply’ button below.
