The School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations has a distinguished record of achievement in research, teaching and community service and maintains strong links with a number of Australian and international corporate and professional bodies. Staff actively engage with the community through professional service, consultancy and collaborative research and conduct impactful research of relevance to professionals, academics and the broader community.

About the Position
The Professor of Marketing will play a leadership role in the ongoing development of the research culture and capacity of the School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, mentor junior faculty staff and connect researchers in marketing to opportunities arising at the interface of marketing and other disciplines. The School expects that Professors will engage with stakeholders external to the School and make a substantial contribution to research funding.

The appointee will report to the Head of School, Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations for PPr-AS (Performance Planning and Review for Academic Staff), academic leadership and guidance. The appointee will liaise with staff from Faculties across the University where appropriate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership in the advancement of marketing research at QUT that builds research capacity, mentors others and drives a high performance and collaborative culture.
  • Manage all aspects of the research lifecycle that starts with engaging successfully with others and goes through to the production and communication of high quality and impactful outcomes that benefit others.
  • Lead research programs, by forming interdisciplinary research teams and mentoring others.
  • Leverage industry, government and community engagement to foster innovation and collaboration and advance research impact.
  • Make distinguished and innovative contributions to teaching and learning across the student body (from undergraduate, postgraduate, higher degree, executive etc).
  • Implement and administer University policy with respect to equitable access to education and workplace health and safety.

To be appointed as a Professor the successful applicant must meet the positon classification standards outlined in the QUT Enterprise Agreement (Academic Staff).

Selection Criteria

  1. Possession of a doctoral qualification and/or equivalent professional experience in a relevant business discipline.
  2. Evidence of your ability to provide leadership in the advancement of marketing research in a way that builds research capacity, mentors others and drives a high performance and collaborative culture.
  3. Demonstrated skills in managing all aspects of the research lifecycle that starts with engaging successfully with others and goes through to the production and communication of high quality and impactful outcomes that benefit others.
  4. Outline of your interdisciplinary research programs, showing evidence of the manner in which teams were formed and others mentored.
  5. Evidence of your ability to leverage industry, government and community engagement to foster innovation and collaboration and advance research impact.
  6. Demonstrated distinguished and innovative contributions to teaching and learning across the student body (from undergraduate, postgraduate, higher degree, executive etc).

Remuneration and Benefits
The classification for this position is Academic Level E (LEVE) which has an annual remuneration of $AUD206,729 pa which is inclusive of an annual salary of $AUD174,688 pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading.
