The Liverpool Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (LECMC) is a recent award from Cancer Research UK to the University of Liverpool and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust. The ECMC Network is made up of Centres across the UK, both adult and paediatric, and is dedicated to supporting pioneering, early-stage clinical trials and translation of scientific discoveries into new cancer treatments for patients. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good communication and interpersonal skills to provide an effective and efficient technical service in support of clinical trials run through the Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of complex and sophisticated research apparatus, equipment and instruments. You will provide assistance in the organisation of the daily running of a research laboratory on a large research project or projects. You should be educated to BTEC, Higher Level (or equivalent), with laboratory experience using molecular biology and ideally with experience of cytology and histochemistry. Key tasks will involve processing of blood samples, preparation of DNA along with other downstream processes. The ability to work to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is essential. The post will involve dealing with confidential information.
