Project description

The rehabilitation of an ankle injury, where from sport or disease, requires repetitive and physically demanding exercises to be carried out. The University of Auckland’s Mechatronics Department is currently working on commercializing a parallel rehabilitation robot that will do these exercises.

The prototype robot has been developed in the Robotics Lab in Leeds, however, there are still two aspects to be improved next:

  • to develop virtual-reality based games to make the rehabilitation training interesting and improve the training strategies
  • to improve the physical appearance of the robot and make it easy to be accepted by patients.
Entry requirements

Applications are invited from candidates with or expecting a minimum of a UK upper second class honours degree (2:1), and/or a Master's degree in a relevant engineering or science degree.
