This post is based in the Population, Policy and Practice Programme, one of five scientific research programmes at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. They are funded by the Department of Health Policy Research Programme (DH PRP) through the Children’s Policy Research Unit for 12 months in the first instance. The post holders (x2) will play a key role in two projects which will: a) assess the potential effectiveness of policy interventions in reducing inequalities in the health of children and young people, through novel simulation techniques; and b) use cohort data to investigate positive mental health in childhood and adolescence. The posts offer an excellent career development opportunity for post-doctoral researchers trained in quantitative analysis techniques.

Applicants should have a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, or other relevant public health science or health/education-relevant domain, or equivalent level of attainment. Strong analytic skills, including statistical analysis, are essential, together with a strong working knowledge of research methods in epidemiology and statistics. It would be advantageous if he/she has an understanding of research and policy related to health inequalities and/or child health. Applicants should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
