Senior Researcher in Education and Children’s Social Care and Deputy Director, Rees Centre

The Rees Centre for Research in Fostering and Education at the Department of Education, wishes to appoint a Senior Researcher and Deputy Director, with a background in education to lead the newly established Timpson Attachment and Trauma Programme as well as provide strategic leadership and management within a rapidly expanding research centre.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience in a field related to education. You will have research experience in education or a closely related area, with expertise in the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experience of working in schools is essential, preferably as a teacher. You will be able to work independently and as part of a growing team.  Ability to prioritise workload and adapt positively and flexibly to changing needs is essential.

As Deputy Director, you will work with the Director to foster a culture of excellence in research within the Centre. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the Centre’s research strategy, including attracting external funding and developing structures and processes that support and foster the career development of research staff. Dissemination and impact are crucial to the work of the Centre. You will lead by example publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences, as well as engaging in relevant knowledge exchange activities. You will be a confident communicator possessing strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and influence a diverse range of people. The post is based at the Department of Education, Oxford.

This is a fixed-term externally funded contract available for 36 months.
