AHRC LDoc Fellowship - LDoc & The Creative Economy

This design research fellow post is to contribute to Kingston’s School of Art ‘Design for Health Interactions’ initiative with a focus on enabling the co-exploration of opportunities within the service design and experience economy through the use of VR/AR/MR as tools in solving problems within the healthcare industrial challenge theme - with the support of coders, gamers, programmers and KSA students in conjunction with the Sony Interactive Entertainment Playstation First initiative. As a researcher in The Centre for Research Through Design, the post will be based at Kingston School of Art.

The Person

The post-holder will be an excellent communicator, able to work with a wide range of people. S/he will have a background in design, experience of using VR/AR/MR as tools in solving problems, and a keen interest in facilitating change in the health sector and contributing to the healthcare industrial challenge theme. As an early career researcher, holding a PhD, she/he will have experience of working in a team and also working independently.


We will need to see proof of eligibility to work in the UK before any offer of employment can be made.

The AHRC defines an Early Career Researcher as: an individual who is within 8 years of the award of their PhD or equivalent professional training, or within 6 years of their first academic appointment. These durations exclude any period of career break. The first academic appointment is defined as the first paid contract of employment, either full-time or part-time, which lists research and/or teaching as the primary functions

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
