Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships

Newcastle University - School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics

The School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics at Newcastle University was ranked 3rd in REF2014 and is keen to build further on its research strengths through the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship scheme: https://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/funding/grant-schemes/early-career-fellowships.

The School currently has 55 members of permanent academic staff working across the fields of Literature, Creative Writing, English Language, and Linguistics. 12 Fellows work alongside these staff and with over 100 taught postgraduates and a similar number of research students, we form a thriving and highly motivated intellectual community, dedicated to excellence and innovation in research.

In order to help support and develop the best quality applications we invite candidates to submit expressions of interest no later than 5pm on 11 December 2017.

This should take the form of:

  1. A summary of the research project (2 sides of A4 maximum). Please include details of your methodology, timetable, and proposed outputs. The summary should take particular note of the following guidance: 'The objective is for Fellows to undertake a significant piece of publishable research during the tenure of the award, and the project put forward should therefore not be a reworking or mere extension of the candidate’s doctoral research project.' The project should also be able to demonstrate strong fit in terms of School’s research profile: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/elll/research/.
  2. A CV, including publications, of no more than 2 sides of A4.

Both documents should be submitted to the School Research Administrator Laura Elliott (Laura.Elliott@newcastle.ac.uk); please also cc Sheila Heppel (Sheila.heppel@ncl.ac.uk).
