Lecturer in Art (Widening Participation and Outreach)

We need a Lecturer to join Reading School of Art to facilitate an ambitious programme of projects and events focussing on widening participation, knowledge exchange, education outreach and research impact. The post-holder will contribute to research, learning and teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Art, and will also contribute to the strategic development of WP (Widening Participation) across the wider area of Arts and Communication Design at the University of Reading”.

Reading School of Art has a longstanding, subject-leading reputation for high quality teaching and research. The successful candidate will join a busy and vibrant academic community engaged in numerous areas of fine art practice, theory, and curation at all levels of study.

You will have:

  • The ability to take forward initiatives in widening participation across the School including outreach activities
  • Ability to tailor teaching to a wide range of age groups and settings from primary school through to students in University
  • The ability to interface effectively with teachers, head teachers, Local Authorities and national agencies
  • Knowledge of current developments in learning & teaching with regard to fine art and/or visual cultures education
  • A developing record of excellent and relevant research
  • Ability to communicate knowledge about contemporary art effectively and imaginatively
  • Experience of working effectively in the WP and outreach contexts
  • Skills of self-motivation and team-working
