Solutions Architect (Data Development Consultant)

Join the team developing systems to provide knowledge and information to support students and staff at the University of Hertfordshire.

This permanent role will focus on front- and back-end systems integration using database and web technologies to provide joined up view of our diverse set of our distributed Information systems. This unique role which provides opportunities to develop on our enterprise grade systems and acquire experience of a range of standard business systems as well as some sector specific cutting edge technologies both hosted in our data centres and externally hosted.

Significant technical skills in these areas is essential to the role, along with an aptitude for understanding new systems and appreciating how they fit into the enterprise architecture.

We pride ourselves on providing a quality, seamless, customer-focused experience and a successful candidate must share this philosophy. You should expect to spend significant time engaging with stakeholders from across the organisation including our staff and students.

You should have experience working in an Agile environment, and be comfortable contributing to the planning of our workload, communicating your view internally and externally. We build applications using a test first approach and expect a high standard of coding, documentation, and use of source control.

You will be able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines, take responsibility for the development of features, but also be a good team player.

Qualifications required

  • Graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Qualification in computing at professional level or equivalent expertise and experience.
