Head of Administration and Finance

University of Oxford - Oxford Internet Institute

This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of a thriving academic department. The Oxford Internet Institute has expanded rapidly since its foundation in 2001 to become a world-leading centre for the multidisciplinary study of the Internet and society, with activities focusing on research, postgraduate teaching, and policy-making and practice.

Working with the Director of the Institute and other senior academic colleagues, you will pay a key role in the department’s strategic planning and in translating the Institute’s 5 year vision into an operational plan. As Head of Administration and Finance you will lead and manage the operational team responsible for all the non-academic and support functions including finance, HR, research support, student and teaching support, information technology, events, and communications.

You will have outstanding management and leadership skills, with substantial experience of financial management, business planning, and personnel management covering a diverse workforce. An accomplished and effective communicator, you will manage high quality support for academic staff, researchers, and students. You will be able to think laterally and creatively, and have the intellectual capacity, analytical skills, and judgement to take and implement important decisions in a complex environment. You will have an honours degree or equivalent experience. Experience of working in a higher education or related environment would be an advantage.
