The MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology and Infection is a cross-Faculty centre (Medicine and Natural Sciences) that houses 19 independent research teams focussing on various aspects of bacterial infection biology. The Centre uses multidisciplinary approaches to study mechanisms underlying bacteria-host interactions from the level of atomic resolution to their actions at cellular and organismal levels. The MRC CMBI will be establishing a new High Throughput Single Cell Analysis Facility (HTSCA).

You will manage the High Throughput Single Cell Analysis (HTSCA) Facility. This involves working with researchers using the facility, providing training, maintenance and operating of the instruments (state-of-the-art live-imaging inverted microscope with microfluidics capability, automated high-throughput imager, and a FACS CAlibur and Aria III cell sorter), managing online user calendars, ordering and managing consumables, and keeping up to date on developments in Microscopy and Flow Cytometry.

You should be educated to degree level and have extensive experience of flow cytometry and/or microscopy. You will need excellent training in the operation and maintenance of Class 2 pathogens, knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, as well as ability to interact with, guide and instruct a large group of research staff or students with a variety of backgrounds. You must be highly self-motivated, organised and have considerable interpersonal skills.
