The position is offered on a full-time and fixed-term basis for 12 months. We would consider candidates wishing to apply on a part time basis for up to 16 months. In a globalised economic and business context, the norms that shape human resource management travel internationally. This is particularly the case within the multinational company, where individuals are responsible for the creation, diffusion, interpretation and negotiation of norms - which may be rules, principles or guidelines - across international operations. We refer to such individuals as "globalizing actors". The aim of our research is to identify the resources mobilized by globalizing actors in the creation, diffusion, interpretation and negotiation of norms concerning the global coordination of human resources. The post, which is funded by a grant from the Economic and Social Research Council, will give the successful candidate the opportunity to join a team of researchers led by Professor Tony Edwards, Director of the Institute for International Management without Loughborough University London

which is addressing these issues. The wider team encompasses academics in the University of East Anglia and universities in Canada and Korea. The successful candidate will be engaged primarily in collecting and analysing data for the interview-based element of the project and will also be involved in the dissemination of the findings to both academic and user audiences, particularly through drafting sections of the project report. (S)he will have opportunities for international travel, and for working with our project partners overseas. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who are interested in using the position as a springboard to doing a PhD on this topic.
