Professor/Reader of Environmental Engineering

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 10. The salary range will be Professor: at an appropriate point on the professorial scale which is not less than £69,039 per annum. Reader: Grade 9 £55,163 - £59,981 per annuml, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) at UCL is renowned for its commitment to excellence in research and teaching, and for its innovative approach to educating Civil Engineering students through a combination of project-led learning and technical understanding. Within CEGE, Environmental Engineering is concerned with devising, implementing and managing innovative multi-disciplinary engineering solutions to protect and restore the environment, in an overall framework of sustainable development. We have core expertise in resource efficiency, including sustainable water treatment supply and use, and waste management, as well as air pollution, coastal engineering and support of marine renewable energy, and building services. We are seeking an outstanding dynamic individual with expertise that is complementary to our present interests, expanding into other exciting areas of Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will hold a PHD or equivalent industrial experience in a relevant area. The postholder will have an Outstanding track record of internationally recognised research excellence, evidenced by seminal (Professor) or highly significant (Reader) publications, invited papers at international conferences and awards, related to one of the specified subject areas (ecological engineering, e.g., environmental restoration, urban ecology, agroecology, and others; interdisciplinary systems engineering for air quality; green infrastructure/flooding; environmental applications of digital infrastructure). An Outstanding track record of attracting external funding to support research activity and plans for future funded research is also essential.
