Aalto University, Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering invites applications for a Tenure Track Professor in Electronic Environment Sensing Systems

We are looking for an Assistant Professor in the field of electronic environment sensing hardware development to meet the growing needs for various integrated, energy-efficient monitoring, sensing and tracking systems. The exponential growth of devices connected to the internet calls for energy-optimized hardware electronics. The connected objects often have sensing capabilities ranging from in-body measurements to tracking and imaging of various objects. The actual sensing happens in various frequency ranges from Hz to THz. For the various applications, there is an increasing need to develop sensing electronics ranging from analog electronics to digital signal processing.

We are looking for a professor to lead the development of complex sensor hardware electronics or system concepts. The successful candidate has a doctorate in electrical engineering or related field, and preferred background in one of the following fields: Integrated circuit design, microwave engineering, electronics or sensors. The selected professor will actively work in broadening our industrial network and establishing Aalto wide contacts in the fields requiring multidisciplinary knowledge on sensing applications.

Scientific Environment
The position is located in the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, at the Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. The department excels in the research of microelectronic circuit design, microwave engineering and components for optics and electronics. The research in the department covers the frequency spectrum from DC to THz and target applications range from sensors and telecommunications to space instruments. The department’s research groups are dedicated to top leading edge research in microelectronics. The research fields include sensor interface electronics, energy harvesters, RF/MM/analog/DSP ICs for wireless, radars, antennas and related electronics. The department has national and international collaboration with several institutes and companies. The department has various state-of-art measurement facilities. The main research infrastructure related to this position is Aalto-Electronics-ICT, which offers wide variety of measurement equipment for measurement of complex electronics and wireless devices. The equipment ranges from DSP and DC analyzers to THz network analyzers and anechoic cambers. The department also has cutting-edge design tools, comprehensively including IC technology design kits, EM simulators and DSP design tools.
