As a result of the successful promotion of the current Assistant Director of Human Resources (Operations) to a Human Resources Director role within the higher education sector, the vacancy of Deputy Director of Human Resources has emerged. As Deputy Director of Human Resources, you will be part of the extended leadership of the University to further develop and operate a leading edge and globally orientated HR function, that consistently meets the University’s needs and supports the delivery of the overall University Strategy.

You will work with key decision makers in the University and provide support to the Director of HR and OD and other HR Leadership Team members in the further implementation of the People Strategy.

The HR function consists of over 50 colleagues who provide a broad range of HR, OD, Health & Safety and Educational Development services to the University. These services are provided to circa 3400 employees, with some based overseas.

You will be accountable for overseeing the implementation of HR best practice, leading specific strategic and operational projects on behalf of the Director of HR and Organisational Development, and in order to do you will need knowledge of the full HR portfolio. In recognition of our international strategic insight, our Human Resources team were runners up in the CIPD People Management Awards 2017 for the best international HR initiative.

You will lead and manage the day to day operations of the HR Division, ensuring the consistent delivery of a world class HR and Payroll Service. You will have leadership responsibility for the HR Partners, Service Delivery Teams, Payroll, Resourcing and Reward Teams, International HR and Systems Teams. As a Senior HR leader and professional, you will act as a role model and will deputise for the Director of HR and OD, where and when appropriate, across the full range of duties.
