We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to work on the Fundamental Nuclear Properties Measured with Laser Spectroscopy (FNPMLS) ERC project led by Dr Kieran Flanagan. The research project aims to measure nuclear observables of radioactive isotopes at the limits of nuclear existence using laser spectroscopy. These exotic isotopes are produced at the ISOLDE facility, CERN. The successful candidate will assist in the testing and commissioning of equipment, the maintenance and development of the laser systems, and conducting experiments at CERN.

The successful candidate will be based in Manchester and will be expected to travel regularly to Geneva.

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field (nuclear or atomic physics). The ability to work as part of an international team, both in the UK and abroad, is essential. Knowledge of experimental nuclear research or atomic physics would be advantageous.
