Spaceflight Operations Project Officer (CaSSIS)

Temporary contract until 31 July 2020

The School of Physical Sciences is a world-leader in the development of spaceflight instrumentation for planetary exploration, and is involved in the CaSSIS imager on the ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter mission to Mars. You will work on activities to operate the CaSSIS instrument during its primary science mission, to provide high resolution colour stereo images of Mars. 

You will work on your own initiative, and also as part of a local and international team, to plan and implement operational procedures to operate the CaSSIS instrument in orbit around Mars. You will have the ability to solve problems and generate new ideas and will be able to work with colleagues from a wide range of functional backgrounds.

You will have a degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science or a science/related subject and will be skilled in the use of computer programming to process, manipulate and display information from large data sets.
