Professor/ Associate Professor/ Lecturer in Solid Mechanics

The German University in Cairo invites applications for the following vacancy to be filled Spring 2018 (February) or Winter 2018/2019 (September).

Position Description:
The German University in Cairo is looking for highly able and motivated applicants wishing to join the Faculty of Engineering and Material Sciences. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the following fields; behavior of solid bodies subjected to various types of loading, concepts of stress and strain in elastic (and plastic) regions, superposition of elementary loadings,  energy methods, Experimental and computational mechanics of materials, Finite Element Method (FEM) formulation, linear analysis in solids and structural mechanics Advanced graduate courses in solid mechanics should be expected. Supervising and leading research activities in this field are very important. Candidates should hold a doctorate/PhD in a Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, and should demonstrate a track record or potential for conducting and supervising leading research projects. Practical and industrial experience will be appreciated and evaluated.
