Maintenance Technician

The Zepler Institute which houses a state of the art Cleanroom facility aimed at delivering world class nanofabrication and photonic based research. To assist in the optimal running of the complex, a position has arisen for an engineering technician to support and maintain the plant equipment associated with a facility of this type.

The position requires an enthusiastic, well organised person who is self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision. You will be an experienced maintenance technician, with a proven track record of delivering a high quality mechanical maintenance service consisting of reactive works and planned preventative maintenance works. A sound knowledge of electrical safety is also paramount for this role. Successful candidates will need to be reliable, flexible and a good team player with a proven ability to operate and apply diagnostic fault finding techniques to large engineering systems that provide highly controlled environmental conditions to high capital cost equipment. This role will also be part of an on-call rota which will entail emergency working at evenings and weekends, for which additional payments will be made.

You will have successfully completed a full engineering apprentriceship to NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 3 (ONC) or equivalent in a mechanical services trade with experience and knowledge of electrical safety. A high level of computer literacy and practical experience of operating building energy management systems (BEMS) for monitoring and controlling the plant equipment is also required.
