King's College London - Informatics

The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £33,518 - £39,992 per annum, plus  £2,923 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 24 months

A Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available in the Department of Informatics to work with Dr. Panagiotis Kosmas and industrial partners MediWise Ltd. ( on a two year industry-led project funded by Innovate UK on a project entitled “Monitoring stroke using microwave technologies”. The successful candidate should have demonstrable research skills in microwave imaging (MWI). The post will focus on developing novel hardware and software MWI tools to be integrated in the stroke imaging system developed by MediWise.

The project aims to build on existing expertise by the partners towards the development of a portable and low-cost system for stroke monitoring. The proposed system will use microwaves to image the occurrence and evolution of stroke in an accurate manner, thereby removing the need for expensive imaging systems (such as CT scans) which would result in significant delays in treatment decisions. The King’s College team will undertake the key task of developing image formation algorithms taking into account parallel hardware developments by the MediWiSe team.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in electrical engineering, mathematics or related areas (or near completion), with demonstrable research expertise relevant to the project role.

The selection process will include a panel interview. Interviews are scheduled to be held in the week 18-22 December 2017. To find out more about the role please contact Dr Panagiotis Kosmas via email at:
