Research Fellow in Community Engagement

The Institute of Modern Languages Research (IMLR) supports, promotes and facilitates research in Modern Languages (primarily French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese). It enables researchers to collaborate in a wide range of national and international networks and activities, to engage in innovative research and to demonstrate research value to the wider public.

The Institute of Modern Languages Research and the London Borough of Southwark are seeking a highly motivated and energetic postgraduate or postdoctoral fellow to work in a placement within Southwark Council’s Community Engagement team.

You will work with the team on a review of the Latin American community groups in the borough and possibly with other language groups depending on the candidate. The aim is to maximise the provision of resources in collaboration with the Council’s Voluntary Sector. The research will feed into the AHRC-funded OWRI project ‘Cross-Language Dynamics: Re-shaping Community’ based at the IMLR.

To be successful in this post, you must have demonstrable experience working in an academic environment related to languages and have experience of engaging in scholarly networks and collaborative activities. You will also need good interpersonal skills showing confident and professional attitude with others as well as good time management skills and be able to work on your own initiative.

This is 0.25 FTE post for 12 months only. The location of the post will be based between Senate House and Southwark Council.
