Step inside the state of the art, 20,000m2, £86 million Diamond building and you’ll be inspired by what we can offer Engineering students.  It is our largest ever investment in teaching and learning, with 17 specialist laboratories designed to create a fantastic place for interdisciplinary engineering education.   Within the Faculty of Engineering, one of the biggest and best engineering faculties in the UK sits Multidisciplinary Engineering Education (MEE), an innovative teaching group which provides students with the opportunity to realise their full potential as engineering leaders with employable skills.

MEE is comprised of around 50 academic, technical and administrative staff.  The small but busy administration team is currently comprised of an Administration Manager, Learning and Teaching Manager, an Administrative Officer/PA to the Head of Department, a Student Support Officer and a Stores Technician.  We are now looking to expand the team by appointing a full time Receptionist, to provide a professional and welcoming service for staff, students and visitors.

Reporting directly to the Learning and Teaching Manager, you’ll be responsible for a range of reception duties, dealing with enquiries in person, by email and on the telephone.  You’ll also undertake some administrative tasks required to support teaching activities and assist with ad hoc projects and events that take place in the Diamond throughout the academic year.

You’ll be educated to GCSE standard with a minimum of a Grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent experience) and have excellent customer service and communication skills.  A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, and if you’ll be used to working in a busy office environment.  Above all, you’ll be committed to providing the most professional reception service possible and will have a flexible and positive approach to work.

This is a really exciting post which offers a unique chance to help Engineering at Sheffield to be the best student experience in the country.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
