Professor of Design

Manchester Metropolitan University - Design

Are you an innovative design researcher with limitless imagination? Do you have the networking skills and research acumen to secure funding to support our research ambitions?

The Manchester School of Art focuses on research concerning the creative and innovative role of design in question asking, boundary exploring and solution testing. We engage in a diverse range of theories, practices, histories and languages of design whilst revelling in challenging perceptions of design research. In REF2014 we were rated as sixth in the UK for research power, with two thirds of our research being internationally excellent.

Taking our creativity to the next level, you will develop exceptional research within the field of design and generate substantial external funding. At the same time, you will maintain successful partnerships with key agencies and thought leaders, ensuring that our excellence in design research continues to be recognised on the international stage.

Qualified to doctorate level and well-connected in your specialism, you will be experienced in securing research income and passionate about the potential of design research to address the challenges we face today and into the future. Needless to say, you will be adept at teaching and supervising students, presenting at high-profile conferences, and will bring your considerable vision, imagination and ambition to the role. This is a permanent full time role (35 hours).

This is an exciting and significant role, so naturally you will have questions, about our standing, our strategy, the role itself and the benefits on offer. To arrange an informal discussion, please email: or call Taz Jalota on 0161 247 6571.

If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.
