Deputy Director of Health Economics Consulting

University of East Anglia - Norwich Medical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

Health Economics Consulting (HEC)

This post is a 3 year fixed-term, full time post available immediately.

Health Economics Consulting (HEC) is an academic consultancy unit based at Norwich Medical School, the University of East Anglia. We are currently seeking an experienced Deputy Director to build and maintain our reputation as a leading international academic consultancy in Health Economics. Many of our staff are leading experts and researchers internationally in their field with a reputation for practical ground-breaking work in the economics of public health; economic modelling and economic evaluation for our clients.

The person we seek will be equally adept at both engaging in client-facing work as well as project delivery and monitoring our deliverables. Alongside the Director, the post holder will have senior responsibility and oversight for running the entire business, ensuring targets are met and our costs controlled. The post holder will ensure that HEC maintains the quality and timeliness of delivery expected by paying clients. A strong expectation of the role is to assist with the growth of the business and widening HEC’s client-base.

For one day a week, the post holder will also help teach and engage in supervision of under-graduate and postgraduate students.

We appreciate that everyone brings something different to their role and we encourage all our staff to continue their professional development and explore their interests and hold a sub-specialism in HE where appropriate. They should also be able to offer new and insightful advice on emerging healthcare evaluation techniques and be aware of current issues related to economic debates concerning healthcare.

The post would suit someone looking to merge their consulting career experience with longer term academic ambitions and research interests.

The post holder will have a good first degree preferably in Economics or a closely related subject and a PhD (or at minimum a Master’s degree with some advanced University-based research) in Health Economics, or a closely related quantitative subject.

Closing date: 12 noon on 2 January 2018.

Further particulars and an application form are available on our website: www.uea.ac.uk/hr/vacancies or Tel. 01603 593493.

The Norwich Medical School is a Silver Athena Swan award holder, currently working towards Gold.
